This is a photo of a local rock group circa 1959 called the “Kustom Keys” They played at various High Schools at rallys and they would play af dances. They used to throw dances at Brown’s Hall in Mill Valley. From left to right ” Winston Searles ( Leader ) Guitar / Otis Bigus ( Leader ) Singer Piano / Walt Lennon, Drums / Jack Lahargue, Sax / Dean Ferguson, Guitar.

Winston recently found this photo in the Mill Valley Library ( of all places )

These guys were great and they inspired others to form groups. I was one of those who was inspired to do so. A piano player who sang, ” Jim Hall ” , A drummer named Phill Trau, A singer named ” Grainger Hunt ” A guitar payer named ” Dick Allen ” ( Me ) formed a group called the “Shades ” ( We wore sunglasses and tried to look cool ) sorry no pictures

I have been trying to locate all of the members for both bands for a few years and I have found everyone except ” Jim Hall ” and ” Walt Lennon “.

Hope you enjoy

Richard ( Dick ) Allen
